Although the concept of the blue zones, where people live the longest, has been around for many years, there has not been a single unifying explanation for why people inhabiting such dramatically different regions of the world have long and healthy lives. These people have different habits, occupations, diet, family circumstances, etc.
Is it possible that the LACK of consumerism is the explanation for the longevity in the blue zones?
Once consumerism arises, it is followed by lack of time for real life experiences, family, love, afternoon naps, being you. Consumerism is also accompanied by stress at work, during commuting, even at home…where you prepare for, and think about work. And the more you consume, the more you need to work and think about work.
Yeah, diet is important, but not as important as LACK of consumerism. In fact, if you decide to consume less, eventually you will end up eating wholesome foods, not prepared by-who-knows-who fructose-immersed, sugar-coated, and fat-embalmed unidentifiable “food items”. Diet in a life not dominated by consumerism is usually a reasonably healthy diet. Why? Because it is a “poor person” diet consisting of homemade meals served at home, and enjoyed in the company of the people you most care about.
